Before my first meeting with Dr. Twohig, I was convinced that an Orthodontist couldn’t fix my jaw issue and that my next step was plastic surgery. I was quite honestly, hopeless. I had dealt with such a strong under bite, protruding jaw and cross bite my entire life, that I was certain no one could fix it…as many had tried and the result was never what it was promised to be. Frankly, I had given up before Dr. Twohig even looked at me. At our consultation, Dr. Twohig was optimistic we could get a result that would prevent me from getting cosmetic surgery for my chin protrusion. He was clear about setting my expectations because I was an older adult and so this would take a serious commitment from both of us if we were going to achieve the desired result. With much skepticism on my part, we began a journey that frankly…turned into a miracle. You see, a cosmetic surgeon could not actually fix my bite. They could only shave my chin bone which was a cosmetic solution to a structural issue with my jaw. Dr. Twohig not only gave me the normal bite I had never experienced before, he completely changed the look of my face in the way I had always hoped for but never thought was possible. Another added bonus was that the jaw pain I had dealt with since I was a child has totally disappeared. Dr. Twohig gave me the smile I think I was meant to have my whole life. No longer do I hide in the back row of a photo nor do I shy away from the dreaded selfie. I have a confidence that I have never known. I only have Dr. Twohig and his awesome staff to thank for that. He re-shaped my face…with braces! I had no idea that being treated by an Orthodontist with the knowledge and expertise of someone like Dr. Twohig could actually change my appearance. I don’t know how that works or how he knew he could do it…but I honestly feel like it changed my life. Thanks Dr. Twohig and team for making me proud of my smile again!
